Jaw dropping European Sales meeting Body Glove

Body Glove just finished the Sales meeting for the EU countries. The new spring/summer apparel collection 2010 was presented in a breath taking show on the catwalk. Jaws kept on dropping when the introduction of wetsuits and other hardgoods followed in the new Body Glove showroom. After that it was off to some real rafting action in the artificial rivers of Dutch Water Dreams (sponsored with Body Glove wetsuits), reducing the sales-talk to an occasional blub and splatter. Later that night impressions of distributors and agents were shared under the comfort of a BBQ and a ambiance set by the new Body Glove band ‘Headlife’. Alcohol loosened the tongues more and more towards the end of the evening, strengthening the family feeling and revealing a sincere enthusiasm for what is to come in 2010.

BOB MEISTRELL NAMED MAN OF THE YEAR!!!!

Body Glove’s co-founder, Bob Meistrell, named Man of the Year by Redondo Beach!

June 15, 2009 – Bob Meistrell, one of Body Glove’s founders, was honored Friday night with Redondo Beach’s highest tribute, Man of the Year. The awards ceremony was hosted at The Portofino Hotel in the King Harbor Marina and the Body Glove family was on hand to congratulate our fearless leader.

Bob was saluted for his volunteer work and time given to the city of Redondo Beach, particularly this last year. He spearheaded an effort to recover and rebuild the bronze bust of George Freeth that was stolen off the Redondo Beach pier in August 2008.

“It is truly an honor to be named Man of the Year,” said Bob Meistrell “That bust of George Freeth was a piece of Redondo Beach history, there was no way I could just let something like that happen to our city.”

After retiring from the day-to-day operations of Body Glove International a few years ago, Bob decided to spend more time on his philanthropic endeavors. You can find him at many charity events all over the South Bay, often offering his Body Glove yacht, the Disappearance, as an auction item. He does have a soft spot for the coastal areas. Over the years he has instituted a system to help keep the King Harbor Marina trash free, he sat on the board of the Catalina Conservancy for many years, was on the Steering Committee of the SeaLab, sat on the Finance Committee of the Cabrillo Aquarium and was on the board of the Switzer Learning Foundation.

Dutch Water Dreams come true

Zoetermeer in Holland is stage to the dream of one man. Tobias Walraven. The 40.000 square meters of the funpark 'Dutch Water Dreams' show that dreams can come true. With a 300 mtr long olympic whitewater kayakking course, several in- and outdoor flowriders and 100m2 retail and catering space, Walraven has realised the wet dream of many waterpeople. Body Glove will be the main provider of wetsuits to this fun-facility so close to the headquarters in Alphen aan den Rijn. Keep dreaming.....www.dutchwaterdreams.com

Elena's soultrip

Italian BG teamrider Elena Bertolini, winner of the Rip Curl Pro Italy in 2008, training in the dream-waves of Brazil. Sessions in bikini, exotic scenery and spectators and warm water make living easy. On contrast to that Elena throws in some severe shredding.

Mike and the Dutch prime minister

Fresh new Dutch Body Glove teamrider Mike van Westen poses with the prime minister of Holland. Rumour has it they went to see the latest Harry Potter movie afterwards.

Kitesurfschool BEST stoked about their new rubber

Freesmiler and Kitesurfschool owner Karim Chioua will not stop telling us how good his new wetsuits are. Since he got his new Body Glove rubber, for crew and students, people are evermore blinded by his flashing white teeth cruising by on the water.

Karim has been a surf instructor for ten years in Morocco. Kitesurfing however really rocked his world. He is by far the most enthusiastic and spontaneous instructor we know in Holland. His summers are filled with teaching in Oostvoorne. Winter means it's time for organized kitesurftrips to Morocco. If you want to learn to fly, Karim is your choice. Sticked kicks off the kiteboarding season

The first Dutch kite-event of the 2009 season turned out to be another grand succes. Whether it was the new location (The Cliffs of Mirns in Friesland) or the nose of the ‘Sticked-Crew’ for wind, all competitors and spectators got a piece of the action. 3, 4 and the 5th of April turned out to provide ideal kite conditions. Making the event possible, Body Glove found it’s way to contribute to the dream of a wild bunch of kitesurfrookies.
