River Surfing the Lunch Counter Rapids

Pro ripper Alex Gray, VP of Marketing Scott Daley, Veteran River Surfer Elijah Mack and our BG Entertainment crew headed out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to check out the Lunch Counter Rapids. Eli has been talking our ear off about river surfing so Body Glove figured it was time to check it out. Basically it's a standing wave that never ends, but when it kicks you out you'll travel a half-mile down the river and have to paddle out. The Lunch Counter Rapids are a favorite of white water rapid tourists (as you'll see in the pics) and a new favorite of our's. The guys had a great time, are a little sore, but got some great footage. Check out the video and let us know what you think of river surfing. Check out the video on bodyglove.com

Bob Meistrell's Birthday Dive

Friday, July 31
Bob went out on the Body Glove boat today for his (Co-Founder of Body Glove) birthday dive. He did a dive down to 162 feet for twice his age. Bob did great and actually went down to 172 feet before coming back up. Scott Smith who is a experienced dive instructor and dives all the time said that was the first time he went down that deep and it was really crazy. You really notice a difference between 130 and 160 feet. Things just start getting weird and you really have to concentrate to keep it together.

The computer from one of the divers. It shows 162 feet for 26 min at a temp of 56F. Crazy stuff.

Jaw dropping European Sales meeting Body Glove

Body Glove just finished the Sales meeting for the EU countries. The new spring/summer apparel collection 2010 was presented in a breath taking show on the catwalk. Jaws kept on dropping when the introduction of wetsuits and other hardgoods followed in the new Body Glove showroom. After that it was off to some real rafting action in the artificial rivers of Dutch Water Dreams (sponsored with Body Glove wetsuits), reducing the sales-talk to an occasional blub and splatter. Later that night impressions of distributors and agents were shared under the comfort of a BBQ and a ambiance set by the new Body Glove band ‘Headlife’. Alcohol loosened the tongues more and more towards the end of the evening, strengthening the family feeling and revealing a sincere enthusiasm for what is to come in 2010.

BOB MEISTRELL NAMED MAN OF THE YEAR!!!!

Body Glove’s co-founder, Bob Meistrell, named Man of the Year by Redondo Beach!

June 15, 2009 – Bob Meistrell, one of Body Glove’s founders, was honored Friday night with Redondo Beach’s highest tribute, Man of the Year. The awards ceremony was hosted at The Portofino Hotel in the King Harbor Marina and the Body Glove family was on hand to congratulate our fearless leader.

Bob was saluted for his volunteer work and time given to the city of Redondo Beach, particularly this last year. He spearheaded an effort to recover and rebuild the bronze bust of George Freeth that was stolen off the Redondo Beach pier in August 2008.

“It is truly an honor to be named Man of the Year,” said Bob Meistrell “That bust of George Freeth was a piece of Redondo Beach history, there was no way I could just let something like that happen to our city.”

After retiring from the day-to-day operations of Body Glove International a few years ago, Bob decided to spend more time on his philanthropic endeavors. You can find him at many charity events all over the South Bay, often offering his Body Glove yacht, the Disappearance, as an auction item. He does have a soft spot for the coastal areas. Over the years he has instituted a system to help keep the King Harbor Marina trash free, he sat on the board of the Catalina Conservancy for many years, was on the Steering Committee of the SeaLab, sat on the Finance Committee of the Cabrillo Aquarium and was on the board of the Switzer Learning Foundation.
